The Belgian Playing Card company Carta Mundi N.V. acquired the shares of Games and Print Services Ltd. on Friday 31st October 2003. Games and Print Services Ltd. was founded in 1991 and is located on Canvey Island, Essex. It has a turnover of approximately £ 3 million and employs 75 people. As the name of the company suggests, it is active in providing services for the games and print industry. The services provided for games include the assembly of board games plus the manufacturing of components such as : booklets, money sets, cards, score pads, rulebooks etc. The services for the print industry include trimming and guillotining, folding and bookbinding to a full magazine insertion and mailing service. Carta Mundi is active in the UK through its Carta Mundi Ltd. office in Guildford. The main activity is playing cards for the retail, premium and casino business. "This acquisition is a good complement for Carta Mundi", says Chris Van Doorslaer, Chief Executive Officer of the Carta Mundi Group. "It is the first time that we go into the print services and games assembly business. Until now we have subcontracted these activities. Games and Print Services Ltd. has become an important subcontractor for Carta Mundi during 2003. We do not intend to merge the two activities. Guildford and Canvey Island will each remain autonomous. The existing management, and former owners, of Games and Print Services Ltd. will remain in place."
